Gregory Becker is a songwriter lyricist librettist living in Nashville whose songs have sold more than 20 million units worldwide. His works include Wonder Women The Musical and Somebody Wrote Love for which he earned a CCMA Song Of The Year award for. His songs have been recorded by Meatloaf, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, LeAnn Rimes, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Brett Eldredge, and Billy Currington and many others. His songs have also appeared in many TV shows and major motion pictures such as Country Strong, New In Town, and Flicka.
Gregory recently attended the New York Musical Theater Festival (NYMF) writers workshop and his most recent work, a full length musical called "Wonder Women" which tells the true unknown story of the creation of the DC comics character Wonder Woman was recently named an official selection for the 2018 Atlanta Musical Theater Festival and the 2019 Chicago Musical Theater Festival. Greg currently has several other musicals in development.
Gregory was born and raised in Boston, MA. He began playing ragtime piano at the age of 5. He studied neuropsychology at the University of Rochester and University of New Hampshire. After graduation, Greg took a position working in a laboratory at MIT. When not working at the lab (and sometime while working there), Greg focused on his songwriting. He started playing his songs at open mics around Boston, as well as playing drums/guitar and writing for the Boston band Duck and Cover.
Gregory left his position at MIT and enrolled at Berklee College of Music to study songwriting and commercial arrangement. After Berklee, Greg moved to Nashville and worked as a song plugger on Nashville's legendary Music Row while continuing to write. While songplugging, Greg received several major label cuts on songs he wrote by himself. Greg left songplugging and has been a staff writer for companies such as Warner Chappell, Almo Irving, Famous Music, Sony, BMG, and London-based Southern Crossroads.
Gregory works with producers, artsits, and writers of various genres in Stockholm, London, Berlin, and Los Angeles while residing in Nashville, TN.
